U.S. National Championships History
1876–2023

THESE HISTORICAL COMPILATIONS began as an original book titled “The United States’ National Championships In Track & Field Athletics 1876–1985,” authored by by Bill Mallon, M.D., & Ian Buchanan. That research, which was for men-only, has been updated by Track & Field News with results from 1986 until today, including women. Subsequent work by a team of Mallon, Dave Johnson & John Brant has filled in the women’s years from the first meet in 1923 through 1985.
