2019 Women’s Triple Jump World Rankings

Inessa Kravets’ longstanding World Record found itself under assault by Yulimar Rojas in ’19. (JIRO MOCHIZUKI/IMAGE OF SPORT)

LET’S TALK BARRIERS: in a year where everybody else was struggling to reach 49ft or 15m—and nobody did—there was Yulimar Rojas, having sailed past 50ft and knocking on 15.50m’s door with her list leading 50-6¾ (15.41). And she backed that up in Doha with a 50-5¼ (15.37) winner. That made her the first woman with a pair of 50-foot meets in 15 years. The Rankings are about much more than big marks, of course, and Rojas was also the best in honors and head-to-head records…

A MULTIPLE NCAA CHAMP while Shanieka Thomas at San Diego State, Mrs. Ricketts continued to climb the ladder, moving up from last year’s No. 3 to No. 2. She split her 4 meetings with 5-time leader Caterine Ibargüen 2-2, but the Jamaican’s wins came in the DL Final (which she won outright) and the WC (silver vs. bronze), so separating them was easy…

KETURAH ORJI joined ’90s standout Sheila Hudson as the only Americans ever to make the Top 10 in 3 different years.
