2019 Women’s Long Jump World Rankings

Germany’s Malaika Mihambo had no trouble in repeating as No. 1. (VICTOR SAILER/PHOTO RUN)

STARTING IN JUNE, Malaika Mihambo had a string of 6 meets in which she failed to broach the 7m/23ft barrier only once, and that was with a 6.99 (22-11¼). Meanwhile, only 2 other women crossed that line at all all year. The best of the German’s marks, 23-11½ (7.30), won her the WC gold and moved her to No. 12 on the all-time world list…

MARYNA BEKH-ROMANCHUK also came through big in Doha, missing her PR by just a centimeter in taking silver and earning the No. 2 spot, her first Ranking ever… The year’s two other legal-wind 7m performers were Nos. 3 and 4, Brittany Reese and Ese Brume…

REESE CONTINUED TO CLIMB the event’s all-time scoring calculations. She strengthened her hold on the second position all time, although her 97 points still leave her far behind Heike Drechsler’s imposing 168. It was also the American’s 12th appearance, moving her into a tie for 2nd with JJK (Drechsler leads there too, with a stunning 21 years in the Top 10).
