AND THEN THERE WERE 3: a trio of U.S. women who have earned No. 1 in the shot. First was Earlene Brown in ’58; then there was Michelle Carter in ’16; now there is Chase Ealey…

THE OKLAHOMA STATE ALUM went undefeated outdoors and finished off her year with 11 straight wins, including the WC and DL Final. It’s her third year in the Top 10, previously having been No. 3 in ’19 and No. 9 in ’21…

FAMILIAR FACE LIJIAO GONG appears for the 15th time, just 1 shy of the record, and passes Helena Fibingerová for 2nd on the all-time scoring list. At 125 points she’s just 5 shy of leader Valerie Adams… Despite having only 2 meets, Gong showed enough dominance in winning WC silver to earn No. 2.
