2022 Men’s High Jump World Rankings

Mutaz Barshim is indeed again No. 1: for the third time as world champ and fifth time as the top Ranker. (GLADYS CHAI/ASVOM AGENCY)

ONCE AGAIN rising to the occasion, Mutaz Barshim came up aces in the year’s biggest meet, winning his third straight WC gold… He now has 5 No. 1s overall, equal to the legendary Valeriy Brumel and trailing only Javier Sotomayor’s record 8. Points-wise, he’s now No. 2 at 96 (trailing only Soto’s 117), passing Dwight Stones and Stefan Holm…

BARSHIM WON ONLY HALF of his meets, but had a 3–1 seasonal record against World Indoor winner Sang-hyeok Woo and 4–1 against DL Final champ Gianmarco Tamberi. Woo was similarly 4–1 over Tamberi and that settled the first 3 spots…

TOP AMERICAN JuVaughn Harrison was only 9th in the WC, but a 5–2 overall record against bronze medalist Andrii Protsenko elevated him into the No. 4 spot.
