BEATRICE CHEBET HAD A BRILLIANT season, winning Oly golds at both 5000 and 10,000 meters. Her double started with a win in the shorter race over teammate Faith Kipyegon, who had earlier beaten her convincingly at the Kenyan Trials. Those were Kipyegon’s only two 5Ks of the year.
CHEBET WAS BUSY in the 5000, going 3-for-3 in DL races (including the Final) and producing the Nos. 7 & 8 performances of all time…
THE U.S. ALL-TIME LIST got some revamping too, with Elle St. Pierre, Weini Kelati and Karissa Schweizer turning in performances 6, 9 & 10.… And at the NCAA level, Parker Valby twice lowered the Collegiate Record.
