2021 Women’s 100 World Rankings

Elaine Thompson-Herah beat the favored Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for the Olympic gold. (JEFF COHEN)

IT’S SMALL WONDER THAT JAMAICA won the Olympic 4×1 gold, what with its leading stars going 1-2-3 in the 100 Rankings… Leading the way, of course, was Athlete Of The Year Elaine Thompson-Herah, who picked up her third No. 1 here, following ’16 & ’17…

THE OLYMPIC CHAMP lost a couple of races, but only to her fellow islanders Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce & Shericka Jackson at the Jamaican Champs and again to SAFP at the Lausanne DL… SAFP’s only 3 losses were authored by ETH and Jackson lost only to ETH (4 times) and SAFP (also 4)…

THE U.S. HAD ANOTHER DOWN YEAR, picking off just spots 8 & 10 for the worst showing since ’80. The American showing would have been better had we not felt compelled to follow the marijuana rules and expunge the OT performances by Sha’Carri Richardson.
