2021 Men’s 1500/Mile World Rankings

Tokyo medalists Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Timothy Cheruiyot & Josh Kerr were all eyes-left as they reached the line. (ANDREW McCLANAHAN/PHOTO RUN)

JUST LIKE IN ’19, Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Timothy Cheruiyot hold down the top two spots, but this time it’s the Norwegian on top. Cheruiyot had been No. 1 in both ’18 & ’19… The two were very close, splitting their 4 meetings down the middle at 2-2. Ingebrigtsen came out on top in Tokyo and Eugene, Cheruiyot in Monaco and Zürich. It was Ingy’s Oly gold that ended up as the decider…

NEWCOMER STEWART McSWEYN was a busy-busy man on the DL Circuit, scoring a pair of wins, a pair of 2nds a 3rd and a 4th. And he beat Cheruiyot once. Olli Hoare checks in right behind McSweyn at No. 4, giving Australia a pair of Rankers for the first time since the glory years when Herb Elliott & Merv Lincoln went 1-2 in ’58…

THE YOUNGEST RANKER, at 20 younger even than Ingebrigtsen, was top American Cole Hocker at No. 10.
