2025 Women’s Steeplechase World Rankings

When Faith Cherotich outsprinted 2-time No. 1 and noted kicker Winfred Yavi for the world title, she iced the cake of her first No. 1 ranking. (KEVIN MORRIS)

IN A BID TO run her streak of No. 1s to 3 years in a row Winfred Yavi cranked out history’s No. 3 performance in winning at Pre. That 8:45.25 would stand up as the year’s fastest, but wasn’t enough to keep her atop the mountain…

FAITH CHEROTICH, No. 3 the last couple of years, ended up beating the Bahraini in 3 of their 4 meetings and was an easy choice. Her tally of DL wins was 4; Yavi’s was just the single in Oregon… There is a significant drop-off in quality after the top 6…

THE U.S. HAD a trio of scorers for the first time, with Lexy Halladay-Lowry, Angelina Napoleon and Kaylee Mitchell debuting in the rankings at 8-9-10.
