2025 Men’s 400 Hurdles World Rankings

Rai Benjamin topped Karsten Warholm for a second straight year, the American’s second No. 1. The pair have rated as the top 2 in four of the last five seasons. (KEVIN MORRIS)

SINCE HE WAS VOTED the U.S. Athlete Of The Year, it’s no surprise to find world champ Rai Benjamin atop his event. That makes him the first repeat AOY since legendary Edwin Moses in 1977–78…

BENJAMIN IS RIDING an impressive streak in the upper reaches of the Rankings. After a No. 5 in ’18 came 4 straight No. 2s and now it’s a pair of No. 1s in a row. Overall, that puts him a shade behind Karsten Warholm, who debuted with a No. 1 in 17, then followed up with a string of 2-1-1-5-1-2-3…

THE ONLY No. 1 during that era not taken by Benjamin or Warholm was the ’22 leadership going to this year’s runner-up, Alison dos Santos. The Brazilian handed Benjamin his only loss of the year, but the American won their other two meetings…

IN ALL-TIME SCORING by Americans, Benjamin moved to =No. 7, passing Ralph Mann, Kevin Young and David Patrick.
