RENTON, WASHINGTON, July 02 — Once again going head-to-head against the larger NSAF event, the Brooks PR Invitational attracted much of the nation’s top high school talent.

Both hurdle races were dominated by Floridians — 1-2 on the boys side and 1-2-3 on the girls — each producing a national leader. Eddiyah Frye (Aquinas, Ft. Lauderdale) won the girls race in 13.35, ahead of the 13.55 by fellow Floridian Lucheyona Weaver (Dunbar, Ft. Myers). “I didn’t hit what I was aiming for but I’m really glad I got super close,” said Frye, who had led the yearly list at 13.42 coming in.

The boys race found national leader Jerry Philippe (Dillard, Lauderdale Lakes) topping Leonard Mustari (Dunbar) 13.45–13.59 for the year’s two fastest times. Philippe improved his leader from 13.62 beforehand.

The meet, which had the Nike meet running before, during and after, kicked off with the 2M. Stanford-bound Audrey DaDamio (Seaholm, Birmingham, Michigan) led a small pack through a 4:58.8 first half before breaking them to win in 10:02.88 over the 10:06.14 of Charlotte Bednar (The Lawrenceville School, Lawrenceville, New Jersey).

Ohio’s Nathan Mountain (St Xavier, Cincinnati) impressed with his finish in the boys’ long race, hitting 8:42.16 after stalking Parker Wolfe (Cherry Creek, Greenwood Village, Colorado) for most of the distance. Wolfe finished 9m behind in 8:43.91.

Kennedi Sanders won a crucial 1-lapper in 52.62 over some notable names. In 2nd was Olympic Trials 800 competitor Roisin Willis (Stevens Point, Wisconsin) in 52.64, while Kayla Davis (Providence Day, Charlotte) ran 3rd in 53.06. Justin Braun (Central, Westerville, Ohio) took the boys race in 46.56.

Frosh Ali Ince (Community, Normal, Illinois) won the girls 800 in 2:03.98. Then three boys broke 1:50, led by junior Nick Plant (Canfield, Ohio) in 1:49.39.

In the 100, Victoria Perrow (Bullis, Potomac, Maryland) edged ahead to win in 11.37, with Kenondra Davis (Trimble Tech, Ft. Worth) and Autumn Wilson (Savio, Austin) inches behind in 11.38 and 11.39.

The boys’ dash wasn’t nearly as close, as Udodi Onwuzurike (Rice, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan) took down a Christian Coleman meet record with his 10.23 over the 10.39 of Aaron Bell (Parker, Jacksonville).

The track-only affair concluded with the miles. Juliette Whittaker (Mt. de Sales, Catonsville, Maryland) took over with 300 left to outkick Riley Stewart (Cherry Creek, Greenwood Village, Colorado), 4:38.65–4:40.66.

On the boys’ side, Nathan Green (Borah, Boise, Idaho) was a well-back 2nd with a lap to go, but a 56.7 final quarter gave him the win in 4:01.76.
