Conference restructuring continues apace, as Cal, Stanford and SMU have all joined the Atlantic Coast Conference. Virginia coach Vin Lananna says that while he’s sad to see the Pac-12 go and he welcomes the academic rigor of the institutions joining the ACC, he also sees a track upside: “It’s very possible that the ACC will be the strongest conference in cross country and probably will be the strongest in the middle-distance and distance.”…

Robert Kimutai Ngeno appeared to be on his way to a win in the Buenos Aires Marathon in late September, when he was attacked by a stray dog after the 38K mark. Spectators eventually scared the dog away but the Kenyan, who had veered off course, was not able to catch the two competitors who passed him. He settled for 3rd in a PR 2:10:16…

WA has locked down the dates of two of its ’26 meets. The World Junior Champs in Eugene will be August 04–09, the World Road Champs will be in Copenhagen, September 19–20…

The next global meet that is still lacking a home is the ’27 Worlds. India has announced that it is launching a bid. “Hosting an event of the scale of World Championships is a very expensive affair, but as the fifth-largest economy of the world, we should host it. All major powers of the world have hosted it at least once,” said a federation official…

Out of 420,000 available tickets for the World Champs in Budapest, organizers report that 404,088 were sold. After Hungarians, the biggest ticket-buying nations, in order, were Britain, Germany and the United States…
