THE TIGHTEST OF ALL of this year’s Indoor AOY battles was that for the best collegiate woman, with Olivia Gruver just edging out her rivals in a season with no Collegiate Records being set. The Washington senior was undefeated by collegians and her 15-5 (4.70) for 3rd at the USATF Championships lifted her to No. 2 on the all-time collegiate list. She also had a meet at 15-3½ (4.66), good for the =No. 5 performance ever.
Honorable Mention to a trio who were also perfect against collegiate competition. Penn’s Nia Akins moved to No. 2 on the all-time collegiate list with her 2:00.71 in the 800 (and also claimed No. 10 ever in the 600 at 1:27.96). Colorado’s Dani Jones scared the CR in the 1500 (4:10.11 for No. 2 ever) and moved to No. 6 all-time in the mile (4:27.88). Finally, LSU’s Tonea Marshall moved to No. 3 all-time in the 60H (7.86); overall she cranked out all-time performances 5, =10 and =10.
