2021 Women’s 200 World Rankings

Elaine Thompson-Herah was feeling playful as she wrapped up her Olympic sprint double. (ANDREW McCLANAHAN/PHOTO RUN)

AS IN THE 100, Elaine Thompson-Herah was dominant in Tokyo, but the rest of her season here was shaky. She lost 2 of her other 4 meets and beat no other Rankers in the 2 meets she won. Still, we couldn’t argue against her overwhelming Olympic victory so she returns to the top spot she occupied in ’16…

CHRISTINE MBOMA was projecting as a major 400 threat early in the year, but was caught up by WA’s DSD-based testo rules and had to move out of the full-lapper. She quickly became a dominant 200 runner and ended up winning 8 of 9 meets, losing only to ETH in Tokyo…

BRONZE MEDALIST GABBY THOMAS earned the No. 3 spot, but she was the only American to make the Top 10, resulting in the worst U.S. showing since a shutout in ’02.
