Final Collegiate Men’s Dual Meet Rankings — First Win For Texas Tech

Texas Tech Coach Wes Kittley.

Texas Tech has won its first-ever men’s dual meet championship in a weekend that saw the previous 1-2-3 rankers end up 3-2-1.

Wes Kittley’s Red Raiders earned it by defeating #2 Nebraska, #18 Wichita State, and Kansas in a home quadrangular on the final weekend of the dual meet season.

“Nebraska is notoriously known for winning dual and quad meets, and Wichita State also loves that,” Kittley said about the victory. “We had a great, fun time and great competition. It’s always fun to win.”

Texas Tech is no stranger to the top of the rankings board, however, as they finished #2 last year and #4 in ’15. #6 Houston earned its highest ranking ever, as did #8 Michigan.

Rankings reflect a combined indoor/outdoor season, but with a heavier emphasis on outdoor competition. To be ranked, a team must compete in one or more dual meets—defined as a scored meet between 4 or fewer teams. Teams are ranked on wins & losses, marks and strength & depth of dual meet schedule. Teams are rewarded for taking dual meet competition seriously.
