BEING WORLD-CLASS in both the 100 & 200 or both the 200 & 400 is tough enough, but how about those very rare athletes who are great at all 3 sprints? Usain Bolt heads the list, of course. This year’s big mover is Noah Lyles, who in April improved his 400 best from 47.04 to 45.87 and advanced to the No. 10 spot.
Here are the top men’s combined sprinters of all time as scored on the WA Tables. For those athletes from the era where hand and auto timing were both in use times are marked by * (0.14 added to the 400, 0.24 to the 100 and 200). Altitude-aided marks—designated with an (A)—and indoor marks are included, wind-aided times are not. An addendum at the bottom gives the best low-altitude marks for those with better high-altitude performances.
