A federal lawsuit claims that one of the elite prep athletes participating in the Nike Elite Program in July raped another athlete in a hotel room. According to the complaint, staff found the victim crying in a hallway, failed to call the police immediately and urged the minor to sign a statement saying that the encounter was consensual before her parents could review it. Both Nike and the co-sponsoring National Scholastic Athletic Foundation, disagree with the details but are declining further comment…

Sam Blaskowski, the breakout 9.89/19.93 sprinter from Wisconsin, found himself in a tempest after videos emerged of him as a high schooler using racist language and making racist jokes. He was called out publicly by Justin Gatlin and widespread condemnation followed. He was asked to leave Dennis Mitchell’s Star Athletics group that he had recently started training with. No public comment from his primary sponsor, Nike, but Blaskowski issued a public apology: “I take full ownership of what I said and want to sincerely apologize for using these words, I am embarrassed and ashamed of myself.”…
