2023 NCAA Women’s Formchart #3 — It’s Still Texas

Whatever combination of events she runs, Julien Alfred of Texas figures to score a lot of points in the 100, 200, 4×1 and 4×4. (ERROL ANDERSON/THE SPORTING IMAGE)

A MONTH AGO, FORMCHART #2 saw Texas as a runaway winner of the NCAA Women’s team title, 78–51 over Florida. The Longhorns’ 27-point margin seemed almost insurmountable, but with the Conference results now in the bank the gap has dropped to just 9. Texas has dropped by 8 and Florida risen by 10.

As a result, Edrick Floréal’s host Longhorns, fresh off a strong Big 12 win, project to go into the climactic 4×4 with a 3-point lead over the Gators. From the current vantage point, Texas is picked for 2nd and Florida for 7th, meaning the meet is the Longhorns’ to lose.

Chart No. 3 features a significant rewrite of the top step of the podium, with no fewer than 9 new No. 1s: McKenzie Long (Mississippi) 200, Britton Wilson (Arkansas) 400, Michaela Rose (LSU) 800, Margot Appleton (Virginia) 1500, Grace Fetherstonhaugh (Oregon State) steeple, Parker Valby (Florida) 5000, Alia Armstrong (LSU) 100H, Veronica Fraley (Vanderbilt) DT & Stephanie Ratcliffe (Harvard) HT.

Our fourth and final chart of the year will appear a few days before the meet kicks off in Austin on June 07 (women’s events on June 08).
