Track & Field News has been choosing a U.S. Men’s Athlete Of The Year since 1959. This year’s winner, sprinter Noah Lyles, was a runaway choice, garnering 22 of the 26 votes for No. 1 from our international panel and had no votes lower than No. 3. The other votes for the top spot went to Christian Coleman (3) and reigning No. 1 Sam Kendricks (1)…

If this year’s Top 10 names look familiar it’s because 6 of them are repeaters from last year: Kendricks was No. 1, Christian Taylor No. 2, Ryan Crouser No. 4, Coleman No. 6, Evan Jager No. 7 and Fred Kerley No. 10. Taylor and Jager are on 5-year rolls, with Taylor’s positions since ’14 being 4-2-2-2-4 and Jager’s being 4-6-5-7-9. Crouser (3) and Kendricks (9) also scored in ’16, for 3-year streaks.
