Prepare for the Fall Season with a Pair of USATF Specialist Courses

USATF Cross Country Specialist Course – July 17-18, 2025

Thom Hunt and Scott Christensen headline another cross country specialist course before the official start to the season. Originally adapted from USATF Legend Coach, Dr. Joe Vigil, the discipline specific course provides essential knowledge and expert tips on how to build a championship cross country program. Registration is limited to 100 participants and the blended course is presented on Zoom.

USATF Marathon Specialist Course – August 22-24, 2025

Chris Lundstrom and Kathy Butler, Oly, return as the lead instructors for the third edition of the course. Learn about the history, training science, critical workouts and strength programming, nutrition, environmental factors, race day and mental preparation strategies to develop a comprehensive training plan specific to athletes’ abilities and their marathon performance goals. During the 12-hour specialist course, participants will also participate in a group project and receive live feedback as a practical opportunity to apply their learnings. Registration is limited to 100 participants and the blended course is presented on Zoom.

ICYMI USATF Level 2 School Deferred to Fall/Winter 2025

As previously communicated under Announcements, there will not be a summer USATF Level 2 School. The program will be deferred until fall/winter and introduce exciting format changes. Registration for the Level 2 Sport Science course (self-paced course required for first-timers) remains open for enrollment. Watch for updates on the Calendar of Schools and Level 2 Program page.

KT Tape for Coaches Online Course Now Available on USATF Campus

KT Tape is a valuable tool for track and field coaches looking to keep athletes moving efficiently while managing common injuries or muscle soreness. Proper technique applied before workouts and worn during practices can provide lightweight support and assistance in recovery that athletes need, helping them to train and compete at their best. USATF and KT Tape are excited to offer current USATF members this new, free microlearning course to improve their knowledge.

Verify Your USATF Coaches Registry Status Prior to 2025 USATF Toyota Outdoor Championships and Junior Olympic National Championships

Maintain coach credentialing eligibility by joining or renewing your USATF Coaches Registry status. All requirements (Membership, Center for SafeSport Training, Background Screening, and Coach Certifications) must be a green, current status through at least the last date of competition for compliance. Full accreditation information is available on the respective championship event page.

2025 Emerging Female Grant Funds Still Available

The USATF Emerging Female Grant offers women track and field coaches the opportunity to enhance their knowledge by attending a qualifying USATF Coaching Education Program. The grant covers up to the full tuition fee and/or any associated room and board costs. Criteria to apply includes: be a female track and field coach, a current USATF member, current Safe Sport Training, and completion of an online application. Applicants no longer must be a minority female to apply (new in 2025).
