Olympic Women’s Medal Predictions #1

We don’t know who will be on the Tokyo foursome, but whoever it is we predict the U.S. women to repeat as 4×4 gold medalists. (KIRBY LEE/IMAGE OF SPORT)

AS WE SAID on the men’s side, it’s very early in the year to be picking Tokyo podiums, but here we are.

The U.S.women are projecting to pick up 16 medals, 1 fewer than the men. The women’s breakdown: 4 golds, 4 silvers, 8 bronze. The total of 16 matches the catch from Rio ’16, which was broken down 6-5-5.

The current charting shows just 4 Rio winners successfully repeating: Elaine Thompson-Herah in the 100, the U.S. 4×4, Anita Włodarczyk in the hammer and Nafi Thiam in the heptathlon.
