A Perfect Record For Winner Texas A&M
by Jesse Squire
(May 04, 2016)
May 4—Pat Henry’s Texas A&M squad opened the season at #2, then moved up to #1 in the second week of the Collegiate Men’s Dual Meet Rankings and stayed there, winning the title for the second year in a row.
The Aggies’ perfect 7-0 record came from indoor triangular and quadrangular wins and an outdoor dual victory over #5 UCLA.
The Big 10 has never won the dual meet title, thus #2 Nebraska tied the league’s high-water mark.
#9 Akron recorded the highest finish in Mid-American Conference history.

To be ranked, a team must compete in one or more dual meets (defined as a scored meet between four or fewer teams) during the indoor or outdoor season. Teams are ranked on wins and losses, marks, and strength and depth of dual meet schedule. Teams are rewarded for taking dual meet competition seriously.

#3 Oregon and #5 UCLA have tremendous histories in the Dual Meet Rankings, each finishing in the Top 10 in all but one year since the rankings began in ’69. The Ducks and Bruins met in 17 dual meets over this time period (UCLA leads, 9–7 with 1 tie) and many of the meets drew in excess of 10,000 fans to Hayward Field or Drake Stadium.
