The first foreign winner NCAA Cross Country champion was Scotsman Forddy Kennedy of Michigan State (left) in 1958. Cornell’s Steve Machooka, though he never ran at the NCAA, won the ’61 Heps and IC4A titles — the first fireworks by a Kenyan in the U.S. collegiate sport.
