MANHATTAN, KANSAS, May 14-16 — Texas had a big 173–144 margin over Iowa State at the Big 12 men’s championships, but the Cyclones provided the meet’s biggest star. That would be distance standout Wesley Kiptoo, who won a notable steeple/5000/10,000 triple, all the times setting meet records.

The Kenyan soph started with a 28:22.98 in Friday night’s 10K, leading wire-to-wire as his teammates went 2-3-4 behind him. Saturday brought the steeple, and Kiptoo’s first try at the event since his JC season of ’19. He again led from gun to tape in PRing at 8:31.82. Finally, running in the rain on Sunday, the NCAA Indoor champ didn’t lead the whole way, but was alone at the end of the 5000 (13:29.92). He’s slated for a 5/10 double at the West Regional.

Team champ Texas got double wins from British frosh Yusuf Bizimana, who ran 1:46.84 PR and 3:44.87 in the 800 and 1500.
