OUR INTERNATIONAL PANEL has crunched all the data for Eugene, and the overall results say that the U.S. men will enjoy a medal haul better than the one they had in Tokyo last year (11 total: 2 gold, 6 silver, 3 bronze). This year’s projected 16 total podium spots split as 7 gold, 6 silver, 3 bronze. In other words, the entire gain comes from places on the center step.
We have listed our Top 10 in each event. Any Team USA members who don’t make the top 10 are listed in alphabetical order at the end. The right-hand column is the athlete’s placing in last year’s T&FN World Rankings (nr = not ranked).
The chart is based on the best information available as of July 13 (meaning that final entry lists were known, but not actual start lists), so the presence of an athlete’s name doesn’t guarantee they’ll contest the event.
Our picks will not be updated as the meet progresses.
