2019 NCAA Women’s Formchart On-Scene Update — USC Pulling Away

Favored Trojan Anna Cockrell ran the year’s fastest time in the 400 hurdles. (KIRBY LEE/IMAGE OF SPORT)

Our early-season formcharts had USC projected as a big winner, but then Arkansas made a big surge and in May even had a 1-point lead over the Trojans awhile. Coming in the SoCal crew was back on top by a single digit, but the first day of action in Austin found their sprint/hurdle/relay core in fine form, while the Hogs had a bad day. As a result, USC is now a solid 20-point favorite to defend its team title.

Here’s a recast of the final pre-meet formchart, taking into account both finished events (marked with ¶) and prelims which knocked contenders out of others. Points in parentheses are those banked in first-day finals. Note: The javelin, originally scheduled for Thursday June 07, was moved to Friday due to a weather delay so is not among the banked events.
