New Mexico’s Josh Kerr Claims Collegiate 1500 Record

A stunning metric mile at Azusa Pacific’s Bryan Clay Invitational found New Mexico junior Josh Kerr claiming the CR at 3:35.01. The Lobos’ NCAA Indoor mile winner took 0.29 off the mark set by Villanova’s Sydney Maree almost 37 years ago.

Kerr wasn’t the only one on a roll: runner-up Justyn Knight of Syracuse moved to No. 7 collegian ever with his 3:36.07 and Robert Domanic of Mississippi claimed No. 10 at 3:36.33.

Overall, the incredibly deep race found no fewer than 17 men breaking 3:40 (complete race results here).
