THIS PROJECT, long envisioned as a book, began as a simple pamphlet compiled by T&FN Editor E. Garry Hill, listing the top 6 finishers of the NCAA Championships from its inception in 1921 through the Championships of 1981. The ’81 meet was the last one that was men-only and was also the last with just 6 places scored.
In the years since, the project has grown and grown, with thousands of bits of missing data slowly being filled in (yeah Google!). Eventually, with ink-and-paper publications falling so far out of favor, it was decided to bring the project online instead. This continues to be a work in progress, with more and more historical sources coming available, leading to the addition of more data. All-in-all, the information as presented here is closing on 1000 easy-to-read PDF pages.
As we all know too well, there was no meet in the pandemic year of 2020. Look for a complete updating after the upcoming ’21 edition is in the bank.
