I watched every game including the semi against England where she didn't play and have followed the team since '91. Nobody is young forever. Even Mia and Abby had to take lesser roles in their twilight.

I do agree with that, but Carli Lloyd (my personal fave) is 37 and still a force to be reckoned with, even as the team cherry-picker.
Megan, at 34, was absolutely at her peak in 2019.

I don't believe in Miracles, but I certainly believe in miracles, the first and foremost of which is my family.

I would have liked to see Carli get more minutes; I think she has a long history of working harder than anyone to stay in top shape. I would argue that Rapinoe was at her peak prior to her last ACL tear and would have had a great Olympics in Brazil without it. I realize that it was hard work for her to come back and she did very well, but I feel she's really lost a step and some energy in open play. And I also believe that the ACL tear was a direct effect of US Soccer putting the team on that crappy training pitch in Hawaii. The federation should have received a lot more criticism for that, totally inexcusable. I'm surprised that Megan didn't say anything about that at the time. Hope Solo certainly did.

I do acknowledge that Rapinoe is the best free kick specialist they have at this point and she had ice in her veins for PK's (something the US has not always excelled at). Any of the elimination games could have went the other way, so I know she really stepped up.

I still would favor a front line that can play 'total football' in the tradition Dutch sense. The new coach has a challenge as to how to best use not only Rapinoe, but also Carli and Alex Morgan. There's a lot of talent (and fresh speed) in the wings, but time is short to Tokyo as well along with a smaller roster for the Olympics.
