Human civilization is due in all respects to men that adapt the world to the needs of their kin. From agriculture to herding , from mining to metallurgy and the invention of every gadget and industry that keeps us from the harsh cold wilds.

Yes that is progress, but to rant and berate people who give you a gift is nothing of the sort. It displays an incivility and childish arrogance that, if we all followed it we would be left cold and naked with nothing but want and bitterness.

    A. Misogyny noted.
    B. Imagine the dismay of the British Royalists when those ungrateful American colonists complained about the King after all the many gifts he had bestowed upon them as subjects of the Realm.

I deeply resent your disparaging George Bernard Shaw!

This statement may be slightly colored by my Badger fandom .

Meghan Rapinoe was the most visible player of the US WC team, but the true MVP was Rose Lavelle.

    I agree with this wholeheartedly.

    But then she's from Cincinnati

Whatever one thinks of her message or how she's presenting it, from a pure soccer point of view, at this point in her career she's mostly a free kick specialist (PK's, corner kicks, plus crosses). Going into an Olympic year, the US has plenty of players who will play a more complete game including pressing the ball and attacking on offense, but the coach will be under a lot of pressure to play her more minutes than perhaps she deserves at this time.

Wow, I find that a spectacular minimalization of her contribution to the USWNT, where she is THE key element in the attack. They are always looking to get the ball out to her wide, knowing that she will do something very dangerous with it. I'd bet every coach and player on the team would agree with that assessment. You can't have watched the WCup and not have come away with that realization.
