Well gh according to A.R.R.S. the "current" women's world record still belongs to
Mary Keitany (Ken) with a time of 2:17.01 set in London on 23 April 2017.

Only races for women should be considered for world record purposes just sayin...

Remember the shark suits banned by F.I.N.A? Well maybe World Athletics should do the
same with the new upgrade shoes.

    It's an entirely different thing.....

Anyways as reported elsewhere they look likely to be approved...which is good....there is no going back now.

O.K. then, does that mean that in the marathon "women's only marathon that is"
some Kenyan or Ethiopian will take that 2:17.01 down to 2:12.00 or 2:13.00 with
    this technological enhancement?

My granddaughter, an elite HS swimmer, was furnished one of the shark suits. She said they really do make you faster but would not wear it in competition unless every girl wore one.

The suits lasted very few competitions and were quite expensive. So, below the elite level the really made for a financial/performance imbalance.

FINA banned the suits but left the records! Really stupid, so definitely something WA would do. Place your bets now.

A Swimming World article on the impact of records set in those suits.
