Happy birthday today (Saturday) to an Olympic champion who was born on a Saturday 79 years ago and competed in two Olympic Games.

Our birthday athlete won gold at the first of those two Games and was not considered the favorite going into the Olympic final.

Don't concern yourself with the hurdles for this athlete.

This champion was born in Europe and won Olympic gold in Asia.

I'll bet you can figure out the name of our birthday champion for this final day of November.

Lauri is a common men's name in Finland, but my guess is that the athlete is known as Pauli.

If it's Pauli, I guess it would be Nevala, the Jav winner in Tokyo.

Happy birthday today to Pauli Nevala, winner of the 1964 Tokyo Olympic javelin throw for men. Very good Olli and tandfman. Olli gets the first name and tandfman with the last name. Nevala did compete in Mexico City in 1968, but did not reach the javelin final.
