Ted Corbitt 15K & 100th Birthday: Panel Discussion & Reunion Celebration!

As part of this year’s race, a panel discussion will take place at NYRR RUNCENTER 320 West 57th Street on Thursday, December 5th at 6p. A reception 5-6p will precede the panel. The reception and panel will be a celebration and reunion of first generation New York Road Runners (1958-1970).

The panel will feature some of the children of the first generation athletes.
    Moderator:
    Gary Corbitt:
    Curator: Ted Corbitt Archives
Historian: National Black Marathoners Association (NBMA)

    Panelists:
Ed Burns: Son of Joe Burns – Prolific Running Pioneer - New York Pioneer Club, United AA, Millrose AA
Bonnie Ross: Daughter of Browning Ross - Father of Long Distance Running in United States - 1948 & 1952 Olympian
Maeve Vinci: Daughter of Pete McArdle - 1964 Olympian - National Champion 17 times at various distances

Panelists will tell stories about growing up in a running household during this era and talk about the accomplishments of their running parents and impact they had on their respective lives. We’ll also discuss the challenges they face with boxes of memorabilia that needs sorting and organizing to properly preserve this great running history.

We’re expecting a number of elders of our sport to attend including New York Road Runners oldest living original member Dave Vogel age 96. We hope you can also join us in this celebration of road running history.

The event will be videotaped and will be live on Facebook.

I am a new member here. Can I still join the ceremony? Because I really want to attend it.
