One of my favorite movies of the year! A great true story with two of Hollywood's best at the top of their game - Matt Damon as car-designer, Carroll Shelby, and Christian Bale as racer, Ken Miles. It's amazing how much suspense it builds when the outcome has been known for over 50 years. I'm not even a car-buff or a racing fan, and I was thoroughly engaged throughout.

11-17-2019 05:25 AMthe first time the Nationals were ever in Indy, one of my bucket-list stops was the Indy museum, where they had the original F40, which was my all-time fave race car.

11-18-2019 05:22 AMI thought Tauriki would have already been here to emphasise that 3/4 of the drivers in the 1st two GT40s were from NZ.
These inluded F1 champ Denny Hulme and F1 winner Bruce Mclaren who started the still famous McLaren racing team and car builder. Hopefully, Hollywood didn't "U-571" the movie on this point.
Another interesting point was that the winning Ferrari driver from the previous year's race, Jochen Rindt, switched to a GT40 in 1966 but DNF when the car crapped itself shortly after the start.

11-18-2019 05:26 AMIn case anybody is interested, here's a utoob video showing Le Mans winning cars 1923-2019.
It's amazing how long it took engineers to design a mechanism to exceed the performance capability of a leather strap!
