Although not to the extent as Miss Cain detailed in the interview, I have been stunned at the workloads foisted upon university athletes in pursuit of nothing more than points. Brutal if you ask me.

Why should there be such a sport. It is fine for young folks, but when it becomes a long term job is leads to cases of arrested development. Always has.

Look how thin Rupp and Centro are. It is not normal AT ALL

Totally agree. Sickening. Hard to watch. She is pretty impressive.

Will, the athletes had something to do with NOP, did she blast all of them? Maybe you should clarify.

At the 2015 National Championships in Eugene, I remember walking near the athlete warm-up area shortly after the women’s 1500 (in which Cain placed 8th) and I saw a tearful Mary Cain being consoled by two adults that I surmised were her parents.

It was a very sad sight at the time, and today’s revelation of what Mary was going through at that point in time makes it even more disturbing.

Statement from Nike. Interesting that Cain sought to return to NOP this past April

I wonder if Cain seeking to rejoin Salazar can be confirmed by others.

Whatever you think of Nike, the fact she tried to return to NOP in April needs to be squared with her comments in the Times op-ed.

An abused party seeking to reengage with an abusive relationship does not render the abuse any less meaningful or substantial.
