    If you want to be President, don't run for Vice President... and then lose, and often be forgotten.
    Only one major party VP candidate ever lost, and then became President . Who was he ?

    In 1836 John Tyler was a losing 3rd party VP candidate. 4 years later he was a winning candidate for VP and became Prez 30 days later when WH Harrison died.
