11-02-2019 11:45 AMThere's no doubt we're on the same page with regards to McKinnon. I guess I'm not a fan of the combative style of interviewing but some folks like that style.
My theory about transgender athletes is that if you're mediocre as male but elite when competing against females, then the hormone treatment you're talking is insufficient to level the playing field, because the best male athletes in the world (eg. Usain Bolt, Lebron James, Rafeal Nadal, Saquon Barkley, etc.) would have been among the best female athletes in the world had they been born female, and mediocre male athletes would have been mediocre female athletes had they been born female. I thought the interviewer made a good point about Chris Hoy, who was a beast of a cyclist before he retired. Look at the guy and tell me how 12 months of hormone therapy would have reduced his performance enough for female cyclists to be competitive with him.

11-02-2019 01:03 PMJust watched the video interview of the two Connecticut transgender girls. Overwhelming feeling of “why are we even having this conversation?” It’s appalling that there’s any attempt to “normalize” their participation in female athletic events of any sort.

11-02-2019 06:03 PMI suppose when Ms McKinnon talks about their being a "stereotype" of all men being stronger than all women she is referring to the fact that there are some women who are stronger than some men. However, this is a completely spurious argument for automatically allowing a transwoman to compete as a woman. To me, it is like saying that because some 40 year old men are faster than some 25 year old men that a 25 year old should be allowed to compete in an over 40s race.

11-02-2019 11:12 PMIm not a big fan of the O'Baxter mega personality interview type, more ego than mental horsepower, not entertaining for me. But an interviewer that is focused on the facts and only the facts can make very easy work of these drama queen types (and they come in all shapes and sexes).
But when the interviewer goes into the interview with the predetermined set of ground rules that gives absolute acceptance and legitimacy to the most bizarre claims simply because the interviewee "believes" it there is bound to be a vast world of viewers that sit scratching our heads wondering what the hell is going on.
This happens all the time too. It is not just these fruit cakes in the present context, it happens all the time with interviewers on so many fronts that I have to assume that it is part of the journalist culture that the first and most sacred rule of this new business is that there are NO facts or truths that can ever be discovered that can challenge a person's beliefs about themselves.
He could have been caught with an axe in his hand stuck into the head of his wife but the interviewer has to treat his belief of his innocence just like every other fact on the scene.
And because of that the journalist is fair only in so far as they can look with a blank non-judgemental stare when the interviewee makes the most bizarre claims.
And let me double down that I suspect that many of these journalist types have very weak backgrounds in science/chemistry/biology.
And so here we are with a perfectly healthy XY individual pretending to be a woman and looking indignant at the interviewer for questioning why they shouldnt be allowed to collect their 1st prize for beating women in a sporting event.
Friends, you dont have to call me darling, darling , you never even call me by my name!
