If he expands this to establish a track circuit outside of the Diamond League, how much money would it take to hold at least 6 meets (one in late-June, 2 in July, 2 in August and one in early-September) at respectable locations that would attract a decent crowd? Does Rieti still have a meet there?
Who would sponsor such a thing? Is she going to come up with the cash? Are they going to do it for free?

Looks like he's got the support of a former high-jumper in Maryse Éwanjé-Épée (1.96 PR and 4th in Los Angeles 1984).

How much does it cost to run the New Balance Outdoor Nationals? Gotta start somewhere. Start small, with maybe one or two meets, (re-)build a fan-base, attract more athletes shut out of the DL who want to compete, maybe grab the attention of one or two sponsors, especially if a WL performance occurs at such a meet.

I thought that money came out of every school's team budget, depending on who they send, how many a school sends and who qualified. The PSAL has a price tag for teams who send athletes to their borough and city championships.

Unless they plan on doing it for free, I wouldn't be surprised if a low-level pro meet would exceed $100,000 in basic costs. That's with minimal prize money.

That seems way too low....50 athletes would get on average get $2000....renting a stadium, hotels, transportation, and then getting officials...how anyone comes out ahead is a mystery......welcome to the DL....

The Diamond League is not even the only circuit to contend with. The Iaaf also has, and is expanding, the world challenge series which is still huge with meets like Ostrava and Berlin which rival some DL meets.

Sadly, they won't. They feel they already have us. We aren't going anywhere, and I think they're right. So they resort to cheap tricks to try to attract others. Mixed relays at Championships, field event head to head eliminations where the longest throw doesn't win etc etc.

The hard core fans aren't enough these days for a financially viable program....
