    That's sort of misleading since the only event Muhammad ran against any high-level competition was the 400 hurdles, while Hassan mixed it up with the best in the world at every distance from the 1500 to the 1/2 marathon.

    In fact if Muhammad doesn't win AOY neither should Warholm.
    We are not comparing Muhammed to Warholm, we are comparing Warholm to other Male athletes. To many, he stands far above the rest. Muhammed had a great year, of course, but many believe other women had better years. I don't understand why you are trying to make this comparison. If Muhammed cannot win it neither can Warholm? Based on what?

    Muhammad was defeated 2 times in 7 finals this year, so pretty similar percentage to Hassan.

    Kipchoge, Warholm, Kendricks;
    Hassan, Muhammad, Naser - that'll be my pick in this order.

    They aren't competing with each other for the same award so comparing their seasons doesn't make sense.

    Kipchoge? He ran only one official marathon this year, and it wasn't a global championship or world record.

    The meet that a performance was achieved in has always determined its value, with global championship performances being the most valuable and small domestic meet performances being the least valuable, and I would rank Kipchoge's event as less valuable than a small domestic meet.

    Five defeats in 14 finals (I miscounted initially) is still too much though when you're going up against athletes who have also gone up against the best, have much better W-L ratios and have also set stellar marks.

    Definitely agree on Warholm. Can't decide on the women's side.
