    Wind Readings Needed
    #1
I'm working on a revision and update of the AR Progression that Davis/Potts/Carey did and am looking for wind readings on a number of marks, as I am trying to include these. Its about 45 marks but would appreciate anything you guys can contribute. I realize that several of the early 60s marks will not have wind readings, but suspect the marks from the 70s onwards are available. Thanx for anything provided.

Pela's list is wrong about the time for this mark. The time you originally had listed (20.0), is correct.

The IAAF World Record Progression (rhymans) confirms the wind was 1.0. [It also indicates that while one of four watches was hand-time 19.9, the other three were 20.0 and 20.0 was ratified].

Of course you probably already knew that.

A couple of notes on your queries -

9.35 Hayes - none of the papers noted the wind, so may be difficult to locate
20.34 Carlos - wind was 1.4 rather than 1.5 [the wind was reported in T&FN as 3.13 mph]
20.5y - Hayes - wind was -3.2! Earlier he had run 9.5y with the wind at -4.2 [when you're as powerful as Hayes was [and who is], then negative headwinds were sometimes less relevant than for others
20.4y Carr - local newspapers noted the wind was below the legal limit, with detailing any reading
20.24 no reading in TN or AW or Leichtathletik

bambam--I assume you're keeping score. Can you post a list of what's left to be found. I may be able to come up with a few.
