Boston is rarely fast; the hills, even net down, are hard on the runners and there are no pacers. And, because it is an important American race, a lot of the top runners do it. So, keep Boston in the tally. Take out really bad cases; all of the big tailwind years (1974 Boston, one in the 80s, the one several years back with the 2:03s). Note that a fair number of Americans (11) finished ahead of Kosgei, and 4 more ran 2:14s. Some got pacing help but most did not over much of the race.
