New York and London marathons seem to be embraced by their cities as major events within the city's calendar. I think Boston may be similar. This doesn't appear to be the case for Chicago and Paris, for example. I haven't seen enough of Berlin to judge which category that falls in.

10-13-2019 03:07 PMUnfortunately, she didn't get the reception befitting of such a monumental accomplishment. You got the feel of second-rate event watching NBC Gold. Hopefully, she'll get as much coverage in the mainstream media as Kipchoge. Will ESPN feature a marathoner in its "Play of the Day" two days in a row?

10-13-2019 03:26 PMOf course, the pacing wasn't nearly as contrived as Kipchoge's, but it should be noted that she ran much of the race behind two male pace-makers, and her final time was nearly three minutes faster than the recognized record for an all-women's race (2:17:01 by Mary Keitany).
