    Not surprising when 95+% of the top runners come from countries with average GDP income of under $2000....a bronze medal doesn't go far let alone 6th place....

    Additionally, global medals don't create as many income opportunities (eg. endorsements, speaking fees, etc.) in poor countries as it does in wealthy countries like the U.S.
