the whole race is so utterly contrived with marks on roads and a phalanx of runners to keep the conditions right and the fancy shoes by shit bags Nike; just the sort of glorified quasi PR stunt that goes down well on a forum like this.If he runs under 2 hours with his not having to use judgment of his pace cos the laser stuff will do that for him invalidates for me any serious observations about the race if you can call it that.

Tell us how you feel about it.

I, as a forum like this denizen, will indeed be thrilled if he breaks 2. It won't be a WR, but it sure will be a spectacular athletic achievement.
Just off hand, what do you think YOUR time would be with all these aids?

That's pretty much how I feel about it, too. Sure, it is a publicity stunt, but he still has to do it on his own two legs.

    TWalsh and Wibbleswoo.

A couple of sad sacks if ever there.

Kipchoge is not trying to claim that he will break the IAAF world record. He is trying to break a barrier of human achievement, and how magnificent will that be if his time is under 2 hours.

And thanks for touching on some of the reasons why I will not be rooting for Kipchoge to break 2 hours on Saturday!

Ha ha! You are entitled to your opinion, my friend! And your ad hominem attack tells us a lot more about you than me.

How annoying is it that an athlete's going to attempt to run as fast as he can over a given distance?

I mean...what's wrong with the guy?

I'm not saying they will have a problem with maintaining the pace. But neither would 13:10-13:15 5000 specialists, who I suppose would come a lot cheaper.
