Im going to stick with the theory of regression to the mean and offer that the vast majority of these children of great athletes do not even match their parents let alone exceed them.

One might think a Borzov/Tourischeva connection might have a decent athlete spawned but alas that did not happen.

Cheryl Bridges (former WR holder in marathon) and Shalane Flanagan. (Steve Flanagan was not shabby with his 2:18).

Marc Hunter (twice a Team USA member at World XC) and Drew Hunter. (Joan Hunter has has won multiple masters indoor national titles.)

Shayne and Alan Culpepper have four sons. The oldest (Cruz) is a pretty good runner.

Florence Kiplagat and Moses Mosop has a daughter. I wonder how fast she can become.

I agree. While I came up with 2 current British athletes with 2 parents who were internationals I can also think of many British internationals who had children together who were not even noted school age athletes.

In a very unstatistical comment, I counted Nia Ali's post-race celebrations with her children as one of the most delightful I'd ever seen at a global championship, as did my wife.

I know the title of this thread is Nia Ali loves track boys. Well, that door open's both ways. You can also say that track boys love Nia Ali. Hey, I am just saying.

OTOH Jake has an identical twin who hasn't fared well in the running department...

Carole Bradford, 1986 English CC Champion and Graham Williamson have a son who is coming along in the miler ranks
