2019 World Championships Wrap Up: Overall Thoughts, Changes, Etc

Of all the things I could think of doing, spending 10 days at a World Championships is at the top of my list.

It's probably pretty high on everybody on this board's list but life is about choices, and all of us have limited time and many of us have limited money. In my case, I wouldn't have been able to check off an item on my bucket list if I had gone to Doha, but I can't talk about it until gh unlock "Things Not T&F".

Free admission will do it every time!

IMO, they should have opened the gates free of charge starting with the first low attendance day. The boost to the image of the meet would have outweighed any lost revenue.

and what about all the people (a small number, perhaps, but the people who obviously really care about the sport) who bought tickets. You can't open the gates without givivng then their money back

Look... you put the meet in an out of the way place, with probably the worst weather in the world for this time of year....in a stadium built with slave labor, and all of sorts of political animosity with its neighbors and no one shows up....what a surprise....

Out-of-the-way place--yes, a factor.
Bad weather--yes, a factor
Political estrangement from its neighbors--yes, probably affected some tourism from those countries.
Stadium built with slave labor--no way. I doubt if a single person who would otherwise have attended the meet did not do because of the working conditions of the people who built the stadium.

I certainly wouldn't have voted to have the meet there....
