The US had to Semi winners and second behind the big favorite. That is misleading, however, because there was a bigger gap between 1 and 2 then 2 and 8. DAS is the last star standing; I hope that (presuming that she wins) that he victory is not denigrated because of all the top ones not being here.

The sport is let down AGAIN by the scheduling at these champs.

Speaking of scheduling - Heptathlon and Deca going on at same time? That seems unusual to me... Yes? No? Am I drunk? (maybe)

Why did Schippers run the 100 ? Don't think she broke 11.10 this year.

It is quite common at combined events only meets e.g Gotzis and various national champs. Not so common at champs with individual events.

Could be a busy 2 days if there are any coaches with athletes in both.

This is a really diluted final. At any rate, Asher-Smith's drawn a great lane and should be on her way to a 21.9x and clear victory. If she wins, which looks super probable at the moment, I don't think anyone can take anything from her victory. Thompson, Schippers, and Ta Lou weren't going to beat her at these championships anyway.

Nice to see Kambundji in her first global (individual) final, after missing out on the 100m final by less than 0.01s due to having less wind behind her than the semi with Daniels.

With silver and bronze being wiiiide open, I hope Lalova snags a medal so she can end her career with at least one global medal, a medal that would have been hers years earlier if she didn't have that gruesome leg fracture.

As much of a runaway the gold medal is going to be, the battle for the lesser medals is super interesting. Any one of five ladies by my count has a legit shot at silver and bronze.

So twice during this event, DAS has gone back from the finish line to care for fallen competitors. She appears to be the woman we all aspire for our daughters to be! What a classy lady.
