And what was Wadeline Jonathas' PR before this year? Could she be the next one under 49.00?

Never mind. I see it at the IAAF boards (52.81 in 2017). A 3.21-second improvement over her pre-season PR and a 3.58-second improvement over her off-year last year (53.18).

If she gets a nice bump in performance next year, Allyson Felix is going to have to sweat just to make the team, let alone try to be the oldest under 49.00 (Kratochvílová 47.99 at 32 and 6˝ months, her last sub-49.0), territory she has achieved many times but only on relays.

Naser continues her progression of the last 4 years at approximately the same rate.

    2019 48.14
    2018 49.08
    2017 49.88
    2016 50.88

I should have followed my gut instinct a week ago and predicted this, but decided to hold off. She will supplant Koch at the top.

Depends on whether the rounds overlap, which I'll have to check. The 200m final was after the 400m final in 2017 yet she underperformed in both.

This is SMU's first defeat in the 200/400 since when?

Also possible Nasser runs her race regardless and it doesn’t matter. OR SMU’s race is affected negatively by going out too fast with Naser.

Not like we haven’t already seen that before.

Too many variables just say a lane draw changes the outcome.

That's a good point. Someone I know on the circuit has always said Naser does what she has to do to win. If she can win with a 51 then she'll run a 51.

Thank You! Why do we have to find something wrong with SMU’s race? She ran beautifully, and looked to execute well in strategy and in a HUGE pb. Naser ran the fastest time in 35 yrs. she was just better. That’s it.
