I did. But it was a bit conflicting as to which substitution rule was being applied.

Seems like we have more clarity now though, with the amendment.

    Thanks

Agreed. I like the amendment, though it obviously favors countries with more depth.

Also wanted to mention. Felix looked really good running that 49.8 on that 2nd leg.

She’s gotta feel great ending her season running well Like that. 10 months post birth, getting ready for Tokyo.

400m/200m is going to be a dogfight. Though I’m sure she’s never had more motivation.

So Felix ends up (probably) with two more Golds and a WR.

I do not like the rule as it gives and even greater advantage to the 'big' countries.

With the new rule up to 24 people can get medals in the relay even without a tie for third. Unlikely that many would sub out four runners.

In reality it's only the US that will take advantage of the rule.

I agree with this. If I were king, not only would I limit teams to two substitutions, but I would also run the mixed relay on the second weekend along with the other two relays to force strong relay nations like the U.S. to make hard choices.

Adding to this...it seems like a "cheap" way to increase someone's medal count. It's getting to be like swimming where one individual can rack up tons of medals with these slightly different versions of the same event/sport.

Now some of this is a credit to Felix's range/longevity/talent, but it still seems like the mixed relay was just handing her another, almost guaranteed, Gold Medal.

That would only exacerbate the problem. The US has plenty of depth and our wins would be even easier!
