I don't think there was anything about the conditions that made the times slow; I'd say most people other than Lyles ran about the times that could be expected, after rounds.

Lyles's gap to the field was smaller than most people expected, including me before the meet (not so much after he got pushed by Quiñónez in the semis); but, being the best, he could afford to be a bit off.

Two years ago, on a very fast track and with a -0.1 wind, Guliyev ran 20.09 for the win; in spite of everything he was actually faster today.

Crap. If that was lingering during the course of this meet, you can't blame him if his head was not in the game. Otherwise he would have squeezed out a medal.

That back flip on a hard surface must have made the coaches wince.

A place-kicker (I think it was Martín Gramática) made some acrobatic move in an NFL game once, following (I think) a game-winning field goal, and tore his ACL and was out for the rest of the year.

By the looks of it, and no science, I feel like Coleman might've reallllly had a shot at beating Lyles had he carried on.

    For sure, a medal.

Lyles has been in a class by himself in speed, endurance and the graceful stride. A once a decade athlete. He and Holloway are really inspiring. The field was a very very strong one.

If the schedule allows in Tokyo, there is potential for a US sweep.

I doubt it. No one was beating Lyles at 200m.
